The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has sent an indictment to the High Anti-Corruption Court in the case of abuses at the Odesa Port Plant.
This was reported by the SAPO press service.
According to the investigation, the People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII convocation developed a scheme under which Odesa Port Plant JSC sold mineral fertilizers, namely ammonia and urea, to an intermediary company at prices below market prices. This company then resold the fertilizers to the plant's actual regular customers at market value.
The scheme operated between March and December 2015, causing the plant to suffer losses of over UAH 94 million. In March 2020, prosecutors and detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine served four participants in the scheme: a trustee of the former MP, the owner of the company involved in the corruption scheme, the deputy director and the head of the department of the Odesa Port Plant. On October 21, 2022, the organizer of the scheme was also served a notice of suspicion.
The actions of the suspects are qualified under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Since the whereabouts of the former MP, his proxy and the owner of the company have not been established, they were put on the national and international wanted list and a special pre-trial investigation was conducted in relation to them.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court set a deadline for the defense and the victim to familiarize themselves with the pre-trial investigation materials in the Odesa Port Plant case until October 3.
A year ago, the pre-trial investigation of the scheme led by the former MP was completed in Odesa region, which resulted in losses of more than UAH 94 million to the Odesa Port Plant. The SAPO did not name the MP, but according to Intent, it was Oleksandr Hranovskyi. After all, Hranovsky is a defendant in a case related to the Odesa Port Plant. He was served with a notice of suspicion in October 2022.
