The city of Berezivka, Odesa Oblast, plans to build new sewage treatment facilities to stop pollution of the Tiligul River and the Black Sea. The budget for the work is set at UAH 123.7 million.

The relevant information was published on the DREAM platform.

The explanatory note states that the old treatment systems are worn out and operate with little or no filtration - the wastewater is simply settled and drained into the Tiligul River, which flows into the Tiligul Estuary and then into the Black Sea. This not only harms the environment, but also creates a constant unpleasant odor in the city.

That's why Bereziv City Council has initiated a project to build modern wastewater treatment facilities. It includes the construction of a bioreactor, pumping stations, tanks, sludge storage areas, transformers, a diesel generator, and more.

The expected cost is UAH 123.7 million, of which more than UAH 100 million will be spent directly on construction work. The funds are to come from the state budget, and the application has already been submitted, but the funding has not yet been approved. The works are expected to be completed by the end of the year, provided they start in the spring.

The project will significantly improve the quality of life of residents, reduce water pollution, and save the local ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Odesa City Hall will spend UAH 222.5 million to repair the sewer in Arcadia. This is the offshore part of the sewer. In addition, the Artsyzka community of Odesa Oblast has launched a large-scale reconstruction of sewage treatment facilities that have long been in disrepair. The total cost of the reconstruction project is UAH 82 million. The tender for the reconstruction of sewage treatment facilities for full biological treatment was announced by the Artsyzka City Council on August 29. In September 2024, an auction was held in an open bidding format with special features.
