Prosecutors of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent to court an indictment against a local resident accused of organizing an explosion at the police station in Bilyayivka.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to investigators, the man was recruited by a representative of the Russian Federation's intelligence service. On the instructions of his supervisor, he agreed to manufacture improvised explosive devices and transfer them for terrorist attacks in the region.

To do this, he purchased chemicals, electronics and other components, after which he assembled explosives in his apartment and prepared them for use. In the morning, on March 23, the accused organized the transportation of the explosive device by taxi to Bilyayivka, disguising it as a regular gift.

Then, according to his own instructions, the gift was handed over to a woman who, unaware of its contents, brought the package to the district police department. A few minutes later, the device was remotely activated by a phone call from Russia.

The explosion killed one person - the woman who brought the gift. Three police officers sustained moderate injuries. The administrative building of the police body was partially destroyed, causing material damage to the state in the amount of over 220 thousand hryvnias.

The defendant is charged with committing a terrorist act that led to the death of a person, illegal manufacture of explosives and devices, possession of weapons, and cooperation with representatives of the special services of the aggressor state. Currently, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the man is in custody.

If found guilty, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
