Investigators have sent to court an indictment against the director of a contractor who repaired the roof of the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine in 2022.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, as the director of the company in November-December 2022, the man personally drafted and signed official documents in which he entered data with an inflated cost of construction and installation work and materials used.

As a result of his unlawful actions, the regional emergency medicine center unjustifiably transferred UAH 300 thousand to the company. The contractor did repair the roof of the building, but the director used the excess funds at his own discretion.

Now, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the official's property has been seized. The prosecutor's office also filed a civil lawsuit against him to compensate the community for the damage caused. The procurement was conducted in September 2022. If proven guilty of forgery and misappropriation of property, the man faces a total of up to eight years in prison.

In January 2024, the former director general of the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine was notified of suspicion of embezzling almost half a million hryvnias for the purchase of medical supplies. In June, the case was sent to court.

Investigators claimed that in 2022, the official knowingly entered into an agreement with an entrepreneur engaged in the wholesale trade of pharmaceuticals to purchase medical supplies at a price much higher than the market price. The prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit to compensate for the damage caused by the criminal offense.
