The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has canceled the awarding of the government's certificate of honor to Oleksandr Batalin, a former member of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and longtime head of the Fiolent plant in occupied Crimea.

This decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1387 of December 5, 2024.

The document states that the government has amended the resolution of August 28, 2001 "On Awarding the Certificate of Honor of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine". According to these amendments, the position on awarding Batalin (at that time the president of the Union of Industrialists, Entrepreneurs and Agrarians of Crimea) was excluded.

According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, some holders of this, without exaggeration, extremely important title, unfortunately, have shown themselves to be not at all heroic. For example, Hero of Ukraine Borys Deich, who was awarded the title on August 24, 2013, supported the occupation of Crimea and took part in the fake "referendum" on March 16, 2014. In 2015, Hero of Ukraine Fevzi Yakubov (awarded on October 4, 2004) called on Crimean Tatar youth not to participate in organizations and events aimed at opposing the Russian occupation of Crimea. Hero of Ukraine Mykola Bahrov (awarded the title on August 21, 2007) welcomed the occupation of Crimea and thanked President Putin for occupying the peninsula.

These recipients of the title of Hero of Ukraine have already passed away, but there are still Heroes of Ukraine among Crimeans who still have this highest state award of Ukraine and at the same time help the occupiers destroy Ukraine and kill Ukrainians. In particular, we are talking about Oleksandr Batalin, who was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine on August 24, 2012. On June 12, 2014, he became a member of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Crimea and a member of the United Russia party, and now the Fiolent plant, which he has been managing for many years, produces certain products for the Russian military industry.
