A court in Kherson region has handed down new sentences to collaborators: one was sentenced to 15 years in prison and the other to 10 years. Both men voluntarily cooperated with the occupation authorities.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The first defendant, a resident of Skadovsk district, was found guilty of collaboration and cruel treatment of civilians.

According to the prosecutor's office, in August 2022, he headed an illegal "Ministry of Internal Affairs department" in the Kalanchak municipal district. In his pseudo-position, he organized the persecution of pro-Ukrainian residents, ordered their detention, conducted illegal searches, and was personally involved in torture - beatings, death threats, and restrictions on food and sanitary conditions.

The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He is also banned from holding public office and engaging in public activities for 15 years. The verdict was passed in absentia - the sentence will take effect from the moment of detention.

The second convict is a resident of Kherson, who in June 2022 agreed to become the "head of the legal support department" in the occupation administration of the city. He ensured the functioning of the illegal body and contributed to the legalization of the occupation regime.

The court found him guilty of collaboration and sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property and a 15-year ban on working in government. The sentence was also passed in absentia.

Recently, the Security Service of Ukraine identified ten police officers from Kherson region who joined an illegal battalion of the so-called local Ministry of Internal Affairs under the control of the occupiers and executed criminal orders. All of them were served with suspicion notices of cooperation in absence.
