A court in Mykolaiv has sentenced a 35-year-old resident of the city who collected and transmitted information about the movements of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the interests of the aggressor state to 9 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the accused was acting as a representative of the aggressor state. He collected data on the locations and routes of movement of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as well as recorded information on the locations of law enforcement officers in Mykolaiv.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized the man's cell phone, which contained evidence of his criminal activity. The court sentenced him to 9 years in prison. The convict will be kept in custody until the sentence enters into force.

The verdict was passed following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office. The man was found guilty of unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law. His actions were classified under part three of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Last year, the Korabelnyi District Court of Mykolaiv found a local resident guilty of illegally disseminating information about the location of the Ukrainian military. According to the case file, in January-March 2025, he corresponded with the administrator of a pro-Russian Telegram channel and transmitted information about the location of National Guard units and the position of Ukrainian air defense.

During the trial, the defendant stated that he had been in contact with the Russian representative on Telegram since mid-2023, and had been reading the channel since 2022, when he learned about the consequences of the strikes on Mykolaiv. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison.
