In Mykolaiv region, a man was convicted of passing information about Ukrainian troops to the occupiers. His actions jeopardized the security and defense capability of the region.

This is evidenced by the verdict of the Novodesskyi District Court of Mykolaiv region.

The court found a resident of Mykolaiv region guilty of disseminating information about the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations that was not publicly available.

According to the case file, in the spring of 2025, the man, while in Nova Odesa, corresponded in the Telegram messenger with an unidentified person who was in the occupied territory. The communication began through an acquaintance, when the interlocutor said that he was allegedly in the occupied territory and wanted to return home to Mishkovo-Pohorilove.

According to the accused, during the correspondence, the resident of Mykolaiv provided information about the location of checkpoints, military units, the movement of the Armed Forces and the National Guard, and sent photos of the infrastructure. He also sent pictures of a damaged bridge and indicated that air defense units were located there.

The man's actions lasted from April to May 2025. He deliberately disseminated information that could threaten the defense capability and information security of Ukraine. The data was not published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense or other state bodies.

During the trial, the accused fully admitted his guilt, explained that he did not realize the consequences of his actions and sincerely repented. The court took his remorse into account as a mitigating circumstance.

In addition to imprisonment, the court confiscated the convict's cell phone, through which he transmitted data, and recovered UAH 4457 in favor of the state for the forensic examination. The man will start serving his sentence from the moment of his arrest - May 14, 2025. He will remain in custody until the sentence enters into force.

Another resident of Mykolaiv was sentenced to 8 years in prison for passing information about the location of the Ukrainian military to Russian special services. From June to August 2024, the accused used his own Telegram account to correspond with the administrator of a pro-Russian channel who worked for the special services of the aggressor country. In the correspondence, he reported on the location of the Armed Forces units and territorial recruitment centers.
