A man selling permanent residence permits in Ukraine is detained in Odesa

Police detained a native of one of the countries of the Transcaucasus in Odesa who promised to assist a foreigner in obtaining migration documents in exchange for a monetary reward.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region.

The police found that the man was looking for foreigners and stateless persons he knew who needed a residence permit. He convinced them that he had connections in the migration service and could resolve the issue for a fee.

Thus, the offender promised his 52-year-old compatriot to extend his stay in Ukraine for $1,000, and to obtain a permanent residence permit for another $5,000. At the same time, the suspect assured that without his influence, the issuance of these documents would be impossible or take a very long time.

Law enforcement officers documented the man's illegal behavior immediately after he received the foreigner's personal documents and $6,000 for the service. Investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - abuse of influence. The sanction of the article provides for up to five years in prison. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided.

Earlier, SBU and police officers detained in Odesa a leading specialist of the mobilization accounting department of one of the departments of the Odesa District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. In exchange for 25 thousand hryvnias, he promised to influence unidentified persons to remove them from the "Wanted" database, as well as to ensure unimpeded passage of the military medical commission and recognition of them as unfit for service for health reasons.
