Law enforcement officers exposed a couple from Kherson region who voluntarily helped the occupiers organize a fake referendum.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the couple is from Novoraysk. In 2022, during the so-called referendum on Kherson region's secession from Ukraine and accession to Russia, the husband and wife knowingly agreed to cooperate with the invaders.

They became members of an illegal election commission operating in the Novoraysk community. The couple went from house to house, checked people against the lists, issued ballots and urged them to vote in favor of Russia.

The Beryslav District Prosecutor's Office notified them in absentia of suspicion of collaboration. They are charged with collaboration with the enemy under Article 28(2) and Article 111-1(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, a member of the election commission was imprisoned for 10 years for the pseudo-referendum in Kherson region. During the pseudo-vote, she issued ballots, helped fill them out, and kept records of referendum participants. All these actions were aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Recently, a resident of Kakhovka, who voluntarily joined the illegal authorities in the occupied part of Kherson region, was put in the dock. In August 2023, the woman nominated her candidacy for the body created by the occupiers - the "Council of Deputies of the Kakhovka Municipal District". She represented the Russian political party United Russia.

The court also found in absentia a resident of the Kherson region, who headed the occupation labor department in Genichesk, guilty of collaboration. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. We are talking about Lyudmyla Stryukova, who worked as the director of the Genichesk branch of the Social Insurance Fund before Russia's invasion of Ukraine. After the occupation, she began to cooperate with the enemy and gave interviews to Russian media such as Kherson LIVE and Tavria.
