3 billion planned for protection of cultural heritage in Mykolaiv

More than UAH 3 billion has been allocated for the protection of cultural heritage in Mykolaiv. The program covers the development of the city's culture, restoration and reconstruction of facilities, and defines the priorities of cultural policy for the coming years.

This is evidenced by the decision of the Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council reviewed a draft decision to extend the term of the city's comprehensive program "Culture and Protection of Cultural Heritage for 2021-2025" and proposed to submit it to the deputies. The program is proposed to be extended for 2026-2027.

The Program describes the current state of the city's culture, sets out the priorities, principles and mechanisms for their implementation, and a vision of the principles on which the city's cultural policy will be based.

They also analyzed the reasons that hinder the development of the industry, identified problems and ways to solve them. According to the decision, based on an assessment of the city's resource potential, competitive advantages, problems, and external challenges, the Program formulates strategic priorities for Mykolaiv's cultural development for the next seven years and identifies ways and mechanisms for their implementation.

The total amount of funding for the Program is UAH 3.49 billion. Of this amount, UAH 2.8 billion is planned to be allocated from the budget of the city territorial community, and more than UAH 212 million is envisaged from other sources.

At the same time, the final amount of funding will be determined by the decision of the city council during the approval and implementation of the budget of the Mykolaiv city territorial community for the relevant year, without making changes to the amount of expenditures provided for in the annex to the Program. The objects of reconstruction, restoration, construction and capital repairs are also included in the Program of Economic and Social Development of Mykolaiv.

In addition, Mykolaiv plans to allocate almost UAH 995 million for sports development in 2026-2028. The program includes support for children's and youth sports schools, training of a reserve of athletes and modernization of the city's sports infrastructure.
