Ukrainian military repel Russian assault on one of the islands of Kherson region

On November 8, 2025, the Ukrainian military repelled the invaders' assault on Velykyi Vilkhovyi Island in the Kherson region, Prydniprovskyi direction.

This is stated in the message of the Southern Defense Forces.

Over the past day, 31 combat engagements took place in the South. As of the morning (08:00 on November 9), 25 assaults on the positions of the Defense Forces and 6 combat engagements were recorded.

The enemy continued to intensively fire at Ukrainian positions, making more than 450 attacks and using almost 2,000 rounds of ammunition. In addition, about twenty settlements near the front line came under enemy fire.

On November 6-7, 10 people, including a child, were injured in Kherson region due to shelling by the Russian army.

The occupation forces continued to shell critical social infrastructure and residential areas.

According to the authorities, 5 multi-storey buildings and 10 private houses, administrative buildings, an outbuilding, private cars, a bus and a gas pipeline were damaged. The gas leak has been repaired and there is no threat of fire.

The following areas came under enemy fire: Antonivka, Sadove, Komyshany, Inzhenerne, Prydniprovske, Bilozerka, Stanislav, Sofiyivka, Kizomys, Beregove, Velytenske, Shyroka Balka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Novotyanka, Poniativka, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Burgunka, Havrylivka, Dudchany, Monastyrske, Novooleksandrivka, Odradokamyanka, Olgivka, Respublika, Tyahynyka, Chervony Mayak, Vesele and the town of Kherson.

On October 24, racist troops launched a massive attack on residential areas of Kherson: three people were killed and 14 were injured. Law enforcement officials launched a pre-trial investigation into war crimes.

According to the investigation, on the morning of October 24, 2025, the Russian military fired on residential areas of the Korabelny district of Kherson with multiple launch rocket systems. As a result of the enemy shelling, apartment buildings and private houses were damaged. Emergency and rescue services are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attacks.
