Ukraine and Lincolnshire (UK) have signed an agreement on cooperation in the agricultural sector.

According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, this is another important step in the recovery of the Kherson region.

"In Lincolnshire, I signed a memorandum of cooperation with agricultural enterprises in the region. This is not just a document, but the beginning of new opportunities for Kherson farmers who continue to work despite all the difficulties," the official said.

Lincolnshire is a powerful agricultural region in the East of England with advanced technologies.

According to Prokudin, this cooperation opens the door to new knowledge, experience and support for local farmers.

"We are talking not only about technology, but also about real assistance in the development of the agricultural sector, which is key for Kherson region ," Prokudin added.

Colin Davey , a representative of Lincolnshire Council, also expressed hope that agricultural and food processing companies in Lincolnshire will be able to share the latest research, innovation and technology to "help the agricultural region of Kherson" and possibly sign further agreements in the future.

"This opens up economic opportunities and strengthens our friendship with this region. Agriculture, energy, heavy industry - all of these are in abundance in Lincolnshire and we have a lot in common with the Kherson region," Davy said.

Earlier, more than 200 farms operating in the Kherson region received almost UAH 60 million in subsidies from the state. In 2024, the area of sown land in the de-occupied part of Kherson region tripled due to the demining of 71% of agricultural land. Farmers have sown more than 153 thousand hectares of land in the de-occupied territories of Kherson region. They have already harvested about 190 thousand tons of cereals and legumes, 23 thousand tons of rapeseed, 38 thousand tons of sunflower, 15 thousand tons of potatoes, 57 thousand tons of vegetables, and 22.5 thousand tons of watermelons and melons.

It was also mentioned that from now on, farmers in the Kherson region can apply for compensation for land demining through the State Agrarian Register. The compensation program applies to both land owned by the farmer and land leased by him.
