In Odesa, the city authorities have planned UAH 126 million in compensation for the flood-affected high-rise buildings and private homes. They also expect additional support from the regional and state budgets.

The decision was made at a session of the Odesa City Council.

The Odesa City Council has amended the City Target Program for the Provision of Social Services and Other Assistance to Vulnerable Populations for 2024-2028, approved by the Council's decision of November 29, 2023. The decision was made to clarify the program's indicators and funding, as well as to bring sections and annexes into a new version.

The funds were planned to be used to compensate those affected by the flood in Odesa. When asked by a deputy whether there would be enough money for the needs, why this amount was being allocated for the relief and who had collected the information, Trukhanov replied that according to calculations, there was 48 million hryvnias left in the reserve fund.

The mayor noted that they do not know what will happen next, so this money will be stretched over time. According to the calculations, 130 million is needed, so it was decided to pay compensation to residents of high-rise buildings and private houses.

Gennadiy Trukhanov also said that when asked by Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba what kind of help was needed, he replied that financial support would most likely be needed, as the budget is short, to put it mildly. He emphasized that Kuleba replied that there would be support. The mayor noted that the OVA could also help. But for now, the city is relying on its own capabilities.

Hanna Pozdnyakova also noted that there is a lack of money now, but it will be provided gradually to meet all the needs. The mayor also emphasized that there are more than 850 high-rise buildings and 920 private houses in Odesa that were affected. The amount included in the program is UAH 126 million.

Peresypskyi district administration is to receive 38 million, Khadzhybeyskyi - 28 million, Kyivskyi - almost 50 million, Prymorskyi - 9.5 million. For private houses, they promise to provide 189 thousand for one household, for apartments - up to 80 thousand hryvnias. In addition, the city authorities are counting on the help of the regional and state budgets.

Hanna Pozdnyakova also added that the city authorities have added five projects for the overhaul and construction of stormwater collectors to the DREAM ecosystem.

Earlier, Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov ordered to provide UAH 100,000 to one of the family members of a flood victim or to the person who organized the funeral. To receive the one-time financial assistance, an application must be submitted to the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odesa City Council.
