Two members of an illegal armed group will be tried in Kherson region for persecuting patriots of Ukraine
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The post says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was sent to court against a resident of Crimea and a local resident. They are charged with high treason, participation in an illegal armed group, ill-treatment of civilians and other violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 260, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in 2022, the defendants joined an illegal armed group similar to the Russian FSB, created in the temporarily occupied territory - the State Security Service of Kherson Region. The members of this illegal armed group were engaged in the search and detention of pro-Ukrainian activists, opponents of the occupation authorities and other civilians who were attempting to pass them off as military personnel or saboteurs. Individuals were forced to provide false testimony about themselves or their family members, in particular, about alleged participation in sabotage and reconnaissance groups and assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The accused, together with his accomplices, illegally imprisoned and tortured at least two local residents. The accused participated in the activities of the armed group, working as a specialist in the so-called "Special Operations Department A".
The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the SBU Office in Kherson region, with operational support provided by the SBU Main Department of Counterintelligence in the region.
