The court terminated the Kherson City Council's contract with a dishonest contractor worth 14 million

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office successfully prevented, through the courts, the unwarranted expenditure of more than 14 million hryvnias in budget funds for routine road repairs in Kherson.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The Commercial Court of Odesa Oblast granted the prosecutor’s office’s claim in full and terminated the contract.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The agreement between one of the departments of the Kherson City Council and the company was signed in 2021. Prosecutors determined that the contractor never actually began the work and failed to complete it within the timeframes specified in the contract. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The contract remained in effect from 2021 to 2026; however, due to the full-scale invasion, hostilities in Kherson, and inflation, performing the work under the original terms of the contract was no longer feasible. Since the obligation to finance the work remained in place, continuing the contract posed a risk of inefficient use of budget funds.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier, Kherson began testing new methods to protect buses from Russian drones. Specifically, there are plans to cover public transportation windows with bulletproof film to reduce the risk of passengers being injured by glass shards during Russian attacks. The bulletproof film does not protect against a drone strike or an explosion, but it holds the glass shards in place, which will help reduce the number of injuries among passengers. So far, two buses have been treated in this way.
