In Kherson, the SBU exposed a local resident suspected of spreading pro-Russian propaganda and justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. According to the investigation, the woman also called on Russian troops to launch new attacks on the right bank of the Kherson region.
This was reported by the SBU Office in the Kherson region.
According to the security service, during the temporary occupation of Kherson, the woman spread Kremlin propaganda on social media and online platforms. In particular, she posted disinformation about the combat operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the situation on the front lines, and attempted to portray the Russian invasion as a so-called “liberation mission.”
After the city was liberated, the suspect did not stop publishing anti-Ukrainian content. In January 2023, she shared a post from a pro-Russian community on her page, in which the Russian Federation’s armed aggression and the occupation of Ukrainian territories were justified.
According to the results of a forensic linguistic analysis, the examined materials contained evidence of justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine.
During searches of the woman’s residence, law enforcement officers seized communication devices and computer equipment containing evidence, as noted by the SBU, of her unlawful activities.
Investigators informed the Kherson resident that she is suspected of violating Parts 2 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—the repeated dissemination of materials that justify or recognize as lawful the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
The court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of nighttime house arrest.
