The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found the deputy chief of staff of a military unit guilty of fraud and forgery.

According to the court' s verdict, on February 17, 2023, he was injured while performing combat missions, which subsequently led to a group III disability.

However, there was no official investigation into his injury. He prepared a package, which he certified with the Chief of Staff and handed over to the Head of the Financial and Economic Service for further forwarding to the Department of Social Security of the Ministry of Defense, which he subsequently did. He sent a corresponding letter to the MoD Social Security Department with copies of the documents. However, the department requested a certificate of the circumstances of the injury (wounds, contusions, mutilations) and a corresponding official investigation.

Given that no investigation had been conducted, the soldier forged an order to conduct an investigation, and then, pursuant to his own order, forged a certificate of the circumstances of the injury and certified it with the unit's seal. As a result of all these actions, the soldier received a one-time financial assistance in the amount of UAH 671 thousand.

However, in the end, during the inspection, the forgery was revealed, and the soldier was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine, but the sentence was commuted to 1.5 years of probation.

The Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region announced the detention of the military in January 2025.

In early June, the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court of Odesa Oblast found a serviceman from the village of Budyliv, Kozivskyi District, Ternopil Oblast, guilty of forgery and sentenced him to a fine of 17,000 hryvnias. According to the court's verdict, in early January 2024, in connection with the general mobilization in Ukraine, the convicted person decided to produce forged documents, namely a temporary certificate of a person liable for military service and a certificate of the military medical commission in his name, in order to move freely through the territory of Ukraine, including through checkpoints where military records are checked.
