Police and rescuers have begun searching for three teenagers who allegedly fell through the ice in a rural pond in Odesa Oblast.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

According to preliminary information, boys aged 14 and 15 from one of the villages of the Krasnosilska community fell through the ice on a local pond.

The police received information about the incident today, February 15, around 17:00. Officers of the National Police and the State Emergency Service are conducting search operations at the pond with the involvement of divers.

Also in Odesa, a child fell through the ice in Peremohy Park in Odesa. The child was rescued by a man who tried to crawl to the boy on the ice, but also fell through and pulled the child out while he was already in the water. Both are alive.

Earlier, rescuers switched to the passive phase of the search for a man who disappeared on February 6 at night after falling overboard from a ship in the port of Reni, Odesa region. The incident occurred at around 10:00. The vessel was moored to the pier when the sailor fell into the water. The crew heard his cries for help, but did not have time to save him. In the last moments, the man disappeared under the water, presumably carried away by the current.

On February 5, a woman and a child fell out of the window of the 16th floor of a multi-storey building in Kyiv district of Odesa. According to law enforcement, the woman died on the spot from her injuries. The girl was hospitalized in serious condition, but could not be saved. The child was 9 years old, her mother was 37.

Investigators registered the case in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: intentional murder of a minor child (Article 115, Part 2, Clause 2) and intentional murder with the note "suicide" (Article 115, Part 1).

To establish the exact cause of death, the bodies of the deceased woman and child will be sent for forensic examination. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy.
