Russian mercenary who shot dead a resident of Oleshky will be tried in Kherson region
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The post says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was sent to court against a Russian citizen, a serviceman of the Kherson detachment of the Redut private military company, on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in January 2024, the accused was performing combat missions on the territory of the temporarily occupied Oleshky. On January 10, while intoxicated, he started a chaotic shooting on the street. A resident of one of the private houses heard the noise and came out into the yard. Seeing the civilian, the attacker made at least six shots in his direction. The man sustained through and through wounds, the bullets damaged his heart and lungs, and the victim died on the spot.
The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the National Police in Kherson region, with operational support provided by the Security Service of Ukraine in Kherson region.
Earlier it was reported that two Russian servicemen would be tried for torturing a civilian in Kherson region. The investigation established that the accused, during the temporary occupation of Kherson, illegally detained a civilian in the premises of the seized National Police building in Kherson. The prisoner was treated with particular cruelty and tortured. In June 2022, they, along with other members of the Russian army, broke into a private household. The perpetrators searched the house, beat the civilian, accusing him of collaborating with the AFU, and then detained him.
Also, an FSB officer who participated in the illegal detention and torture of civilians will be tried in Kherson region.
