Residents of the Central District of Mykolaiv receive funds for housing reconstruction

In 2025, the city authorities of Mykolaiv paid more than UAH 10 million in compensation to residents of the city's Central District whose homes were damaged by Russian military aggression.

This was announced by Oleksandr Bereza, head of the administration of the Central District of Mykolaiv.

In total, 891 objects were inspected during the reporting period, including apartments, private houses and non-residential premises. After recording the damage and collecting the necessary documents, the compensation commission held 84 meetings.

As a result, 172 applications for a total of UAH 10 million 9 thousand 131 were approved. These funds were earmarked for the restoration and repair of damaged houses and apartments.

The administration also conducts a thorough verification of the use of the disbursed funds. During the reporting period, staff conducted 252 inspections to monitor the targeted use of compensation, confirming the transparency of the reconstruction process.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), together with the Government of Denmark, is launching a large-scale three-year project called the Strategic Partnership for Mykolaiv, with a budget of more than $36 million to be used for the city's recovery and development.

The initiative, which is part of long-term assistance to Ukraine, aims to improve the living conditions of local residents, help IDPs return, and provide support to the most vulnerable.

According to Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, the project focuses not only on rebuilding infrastructure but also on creating better living conditions in war-affected communities.

The Strategic Partnership for Mykolaiv project will work in three main areas: strengthening local governance, rebuilding critical and social infrastructure, and economic growth, which includes stimulating the local economy and creating jobs.
