Resident of Kherson region voluntarily went to work against Ukraine

Local resident to be tried in Kherson region for participation in illegal armed group

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The report says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional and Genichesk District Prosecutor's Offices, an indictment was sent to court against a resident of the regional center on the fact of voluntary participation in an illegal armed group created in the temporarily occupied territory (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in 2023, the accused joined the illegal armed formation "Volunteer Battalion named after V.F. Margelov" as a radio operator. The activities of this illegal armed group were aimed at ensuring and supporting armed aggression against Ukraine. The accused, while in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, gave an interview to the Russian media, where he spoke about his participation in the "volunteer battalion", contributing to the combat potential of the Russian Armed Forces and raising the morale of young people. He also expressed his gratitude to the Russian organization for the "humanitarian" assistance provided to the armed group.

The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the National Police in Kherson region.

Earlier it was reported that an investigation was completed against four former employees of the penitentiary service from Kherson region who collaborated with the enemy. The investigation found that in 2022, the accused agreed to cooperate with the enemy and were employed by the illegally created "Department of the Penitentiary Service in Kherson Region" and its structural units: "Holoprystan Correctional Colony No. 7 and Northern Correctional Colony No. 90.

It was also said that two members of an illegal armed group would be tried in Kherson region for persecuting patriots of Ukraine. The investigation established that in 2022 the defendants joined an illegal armed group, similar to the Russian FSB, created in the temporarily occupied territory.
