Over the past day, on August 20, 12 fires broke out in the Kherson region, six of which were caused by ammunition hits.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kherson region.

The report says that residential buildings, an apartment, a non-residential building, a private garage, and ecosystems on a total area of more than 6 hectares were on fire. While extinguishing some of the fires, firefighters had to stop working due to the activity of enemy drones, and continue extinguishing after the security situation stabilized.

It is noted that all the fires were extinguished by fire and rescue units together with local fire brigades.

The day before, the enemy did not stop shelling the settlements of the Kherson region. In total, 14 fires occurred in the region, seven of which were caused by ammunition hits. Firefighters extinguished fires in four residential buildings, an inactive building, a car and eight fires in ecosystems with a total area of 9.9 hectares.

Local firefighting units were also involved in firefighting.

Earlier it was reported that on August 18 in the morning, Russian occupants attacked a settlement in the suburbs of Kherson. An enemy shell hit a residential building where two people were trapped: a man and a woman, and the roof structures of the house caught fire. Rescuers arrived and helped the woman get out of the house, while the man got out on his own. The fire was quickly extinguished in a small area.

It was also reported that on August 8, the Kherson 101 service received a report that smoke was coming out of the windows of an apartment on the second floor in an apartment building. Rescuers used a ladder to get into the apartment. As it turned out, the smoke was caused by food left on the stove, and in one of the rooms the firefighters found an unconscious resident of the apartment. The man was taken out into the fresh air, given first aid, revived and transported to an ambulance.
