The team of the Odesa Film Studio and Odesa Film Production Company presented a teaser for the biographical film Dovzhenko for the first time, which is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

As reported on the film's official Facebook page, this happened during the 78th Cannes Film Festival.

The premiere is scheduled for 2026, the 100th anniversary of the beginning of director Oleksandr Dovzhenko's work at the Odesa Film Studio.

"Odesa, 1926. The city of jazz, ballet, dreams and cinema. It was here that young Oleksandr Dovzhenko made his first film. Not for the sake of propaganda, but for the sake of art. But when the pressure of the system becomes unbearable, the power of friendship, creativity and freedom comes to the rescue," the authors of the film note in the description.

A teaser is an advertising message made as a riddle that contains some information about a product, but does not name the advertised product. Teasers usually appear at an early stage of product advertising and serve to create intrigue around the product.

"We want to show that Ukrainians are not only unbreakable and freedom-loving, but also talented, educated, and capable of creating great art. This film is our voice in the global cultural dialog," says producer Anna Docheva.

In 2024, the Odesa Film Studio announced the start of filming in Odesa of the film The Director, dedicated to the famous Ukrainian director Oleksandr Dovzhenko, which was called the largest-scale film production in Ukraine.

The film is being produced by Odesa Film Production in international cooperation with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The creative team of the film includes: director Kostyantyn Konovalov (Fortress Khadjibey); director of photography Volodymyr Huevsky; production designer Dmytro Sviatkin; script authors Serhiy Trymbach, Kostyantyn Konovalov, Andriy Kurochkin, Andriy Osipov; producers Anna Docheva, Vadym Mahomed, Andriy Nogin, Yuriy Kalynovskyi and Ivan Liptuga.
