Odesa Executive Committee meets extraordinary for buses from other cities

The Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council convened for an extraordinary meeting on January 2 to organize the acceptance of buses sent from other cities of Ukraine to replace the trams and trolleybuses in Odesa that are out of service.

According to the press service of the Odesa City Council, the only item on the agenda is the submission of a proposal to the Odesa City Military Administration of Odesa District, Odesa Region, "On the organization of the acceptance and transfer of vehicles from the territorial communities of Ukraine to ensure the smooth operation of passenger transport in Odesa."

According to the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak , 10 buses from Lviv, 10 from Kropyvnytskyi and five from Mykolaiv have already arrived in the city. The buses will duplicate tram and trolleybus routes to provide transportation in the absence of electric transport. Once all the buses are received, a schedule will be formed.

In the evening, the mayors of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, and Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, reported that they had sent buses to Odesa to replace trams and trolleybuses that are not working due to the power shortage.

Earlier, Lysak said that the city was expecting 40 buses from various other cities, including 10 buses each from Lviv and Kropyvnytskyi communities, five buses each from Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr, and three buses each from Vinnytsia and Mariupol. The Bila Tserkva community also joined the support.

On the morning of December 31, the head of the Odesa City Administration, Serhiy Lysak, said that due to a power shortage, trams and trolleybuses in Odesa were not working. On the night of December 31, Russians attacked the residential, logistics, and energy infrastructure of Odesa region. As a result of hits in one of the residential buildings, fires broke out in apartments from the second to the sixth floors. The facade on the fifth and sixth floors was partially destroyed. Six people were injured in the attack, including three children. The facades and glazing of several multi-storey residential buildings were also damaged.
