In Odesa, the commission members agreed to fund two projects: the overhaul of an inclusive beach and the installation of video surveillance cameras at the city cemetery.

This became known during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning, Budget and Finance.

As part of the "Barrier-Free Odesa" program, UAH 17.2 million was approved for the reconstruction of the beach at the 11th station of the Big Fountain. It is planned that after the renovation, it will meet all accessibility requirements and will open to visitors in the summer season of 2025.

In addition, 550 thousand hryvnias were allocated to install a video surveillance system at the Zakhidne cemetery. The deputies explained that the cameras will help ensure order and prevent vandalism and illegal actions.

Both decisions were made unanimously.

Earlier, the Department of Engineering Protection of the City Territory and Coastal Development of the Odesa City Council announced a tender to select a contractor to be paid for the overhaul of the beach for people with disabilities. The beach in question is the beach between traverses No. 6-B and No. 7 of the second stage of landslide protection structures in the area of station 11 of the Big Fountain. The beach will be arranged in two stages - part of the work will be done this year, and completion is scheduled for next year, as it is impossible to complete everything before the start of the season.

The first stage involves the arrangement of a zone for people in wheelchairs - partly on special boards or flooring, and partly on sand. The beach will be adapted for different categories of people with disabilities, but at the same time will remain publicly accessible to all citizens.

The project also envisages the construction of a shelter that will meet all accessibility standards for people with disabilities, including the necessary passages and amenities. In addition, it is planned to open a first-aid post, arrange showers and toilets.
