Occupants rewrite school curriculum in Kherson region

(COLLAGE: CNR)

The occupiers are turning schools in the occupied territories into military training grounds, imposing Russian propaganda on children and erasing Ukrainian identity.

This was reported by the National Resistance Center.

According to the order of the Russian Ministry of Education, 17 compulsory subjects have been introduced, including: "history of Russia", "general history" and "history of the region", completely without Ukrainian content. At the same time, the study of the Ukrainian language and literature is possible only at the request of parents, which creates a risk of persecution under the occupation.

In addition, the school curriculum includes the "spiritual and moral culture of Russia," as well as mandatory "military and patriotic education" and training in drone control.

Education in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine has undergone dramatic changes and is now completely subordinated to Russian propaganda and militarization. Russia uses school institutions as a tool to destroy Ukrainian identity and impose its narratives. Ukrainian teachers are forced to take "retraining courses" where they are taught Russian methods and propaganda. Those who refuse to cooperate are persecuted. The occupation administration has increased control over the educational process in educational institutions.

The administration of the occupiers in Kherson region is headed by new people. After the appointment of Russian Vladimir Oganesov as the head of the occupation administration of Nova Kakhovka, the composition of his deputies changed. Only Olena Bolotnia retained her position, while 47-year-old Yulia Bogan and 46-year-old Demian Kavun became the new so-called deputies.

Yulia Bogan became the new deputy for social policy. She has no relation to Nova Kakhovka, as she has lived in Feodosia for most of her life. She appeared in the city at the same time as Oganesov, with whom she had previously worked in the occupation administration of Kalanchak. There, she organized events, including sending residents to celebrate "Russia Day." In July 2025, Bogan became the head of the commission on minors' affairs, which is now responsible for forcing children to study in Russian schools.
