The situation in the temporarily occupied Holoprystan community in the Hessian region has reached a critical level.

This was stated by representatives of the Hola Prystan City Military Administration during a meeting with the head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, Danielle Bell. The Ukrainian side emphasized the signs of a humanitarian catastrophe and the systematic disregard for the basic needs of the civilian population by the occupation authorities.

The dialog lasted over an hour and a half. Representatives of the community sought to convey to the international community not only the facts of violations, but also the real living conditions of people under occupation.

According to the MBA, the situation with the community's livelihoods is critical. There is no garbage collection, which poses a threat of infectious disease outbreaks. The procedure for burying the dead is complicated or virtually impossible. Residents are isolated due to the lack of telecommunications, and the healthcaresystem is destroyed - people do not have access to treatment and necessary medicines.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to the testimonies of internally displaced persons who were able to leave the occupation. They report torture, illegal detentions and abductions of civilians - facts that may indicate crimes against humanity.

The Hola Prystan ICA emphasized that protecting the rights of IDPs and supporting residents of the frontline areas remain key areas of work. The Ukrainian side thanked the international partners for their attention to the situation and readiness for further dialogue.

As a reminder, the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied Oleshky has deteriorated sharply since mid-April. The town is effectively under siege due to the constant danger and bombings of transport.

Earlier, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that the situation in Oleshky is a humanitarian catastrophe and a direct consequence of the occupation. He called on the international community to take immediate action and strengthen its response.

In its turn, Ukraine has asked the International Committee of the Red Cross to use its mandate to organize a safe corridor and deliver humanitarian aid.
