The State Agency for Reconstruction reported that water supply to the first lifting station of the new water supply system to Mykolaiv is scheduled to begin on July 25. Earlier it was said that this would happen on July 20.

This was stated by Serhiy Sukhomlin, head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

"We see how much more needs to be done. But after July 25, we expect to start pumping water to the first lift station. The commissioning process is lengthy. But the deadline for supplying water to people remains unchanged: in August, Mykolaiv residents will receive water," the statement said.

After the Russian shelling on April 12, 2022, the Dnipro-Mykolaiv water main was damaged, which led to a shutdown of centralized water supply. Since then, the city has been receiving process water from the Ingulets River and, since May 2022, from the Southern Bug.

The system is being restored with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The Cabinet of Ministers has already allocated UAH 125.5 million from the reserve fund for water supply.

Initially, the construction work was carried out by several companies that had previously received large-scale government contracts, including Avtostrada, Rostdorstroy, and Ukrtransmist. However, criminal proceedings were opened against some of the contractors, so they were replaced.

The customer for the new water pipeline was the Service for Infrastructure Restoration and Development in Dnipropetrovska oblast, and the contractor was Avtostrada Group.

It also became known that the new water supply to Mykolaiv was made cheaper, but they promised that the drinking water would be of high quality.
