The MYPH Photo Festival, a three-day festival of contemporary photography, will be held for the first time in Mykolaiv from July 3 to 5. The program is dedicated to Ukrainian photographyand the experience of living during wartime.

This was announced bythe Mykolaiv City Council.

The program includes three public lectures and artist talks, workshops, two photo exhibitions, a presentation of photobooks, and portfolio reviews by leading Ukrainian photographers. The centerpiece of the event will be the main exhibition, “Inside,” which brings together works by eight artists exploring the experiences of Ukrainians during the war. The participants were selected through an open call.

The festival opening and the main exhibition are scheduled for July 3 at 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at the “Portal” Shopping Center, 108 Mala Morska St., 5th floor. On July 4–5, events will take place at the Ukrainian-Danish Youth Center (59 Shevchenko St.). The MYPH Festival is organized by the MYPH School of Conceptual and Art Photography in Mykolaiv, founded in 2018 by Serhii Melnychenko. The school has already graduated 10 cohorts, with a total of 400 students completing their studies. The school has carried out dozens of international projects and published its own photo books.

MYPH’s bilingual magazine “525” serves as a platform that brings together young Ukrainian photographers and helps solidify the position of Ukrainian photography on the international stage. In January 2026, the magazine was presented at the Photo Cluster Vienna exhibition space in Vienna.

An exhibition by Serhii Melnychenko took place in Kharkiv, showcasing three of his projects: “Tattoos of War,” “Along the Dnipro,” and “Frontline Rolls.” The exhibition featured photographs, personal belongings of military personnel, and video installations, as well as a short documentary film. Military personnel, volunteers, and employees of the State Emergency Service participated in the project.
