Following the enemy attack on Mykolaiv CHP, which left part of the city without heat and electricity, active work has begun to restore it.

Vitaliy Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, said that the heating is being restored gradually, adding 2-3 degrees to avoid emergencies.

"I am very grateful to our power engineers, CHPPs, Mykolaivoblenergo, the city, and everyone who was involved this weekend to restore the work and provide heating to people as soon as possible," he said.

At the same time, a power shortage is expected in Ukraine due to the damage to the power grid. This will result in two lines of business being shut down, but no restrictions are expected for citizens.

Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych confirmed that the attack on the CHP plant was deliberate to deprive the city of heat during the cold snap.

"The first priority for us is to restore heat to social facilities," he emphasized. Thanks to Danish assistance, three hospitals have been reconnected to modular biofuel boilers.

The city authorities are also urging residents to use electricity sparingly to avoid overloading the grid. Anyone who has the opportunity to temporarily move in with relatives with alternative heating is advised to do so.

On the night of February 16, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the city. The enemy attack damaged a critical facility, which started a fire.

Subsequently, Mayor Oleksandr Seknevych said that an enemy camikaze drone hit a 300-diameter sewer line located on Tsentralnyi Avenue (Dormashyna district). "Mykolaivvodokanal has started repair work, which will last about 2 days. Central Avenue will be partially blocked in the area of Malaya Morskaya Street.

The official added that traffic from the direction of the Bus Station along the avenue will remain unchanged. In the direction of the Bus Station, trolleybuses will run along Velyka Morska Street through the Arkasivske Ring to Sadova Street and then along the route.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than a hundred thousand people in Mykolaiv were left without heating as a result of a Russian "shadow" attack on the city's critical infrastructure.
