In 2025, Russian aggression caused environmental damage in the Mykolaiv region amounting to UAH 294 million 206 thousand.

This was reported by the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwest Region.

Experts of the Inspectorate conducted 180 assessments of environmental damage caused by uncontrolled emissions into the atmosphere due to fires after enemy attacks. The environment suffered the most significant damage: the fire destroyed 67 hectares of natural lands, forests and fields, causing ecosystems damage worth UAH 225 million 744 thousand.

At the same time, infrastructure was destroyed over an area of almost 30 thousand square meters. The attacks resulted in damage to industrial facilities, energy facilities, homes and businesses estimated at over UAH 7 million 623 thousand.

Significant pollution was caused by the burning of 1,210 tons of fuel and lubricants. In particular, fires at transformer substations after the shelling of the energy sector caused damage to the atmosphere worth UAH 60 million 840 thousand. In total, more than 80 thousand tons of harmful substances were released into the air, the bulk of which - almost 79 thousand tons - was carbon dioxide.

As a reminder, the head of a company in Mykolaiv region was released from punishment in a case of land contamination with chemicals. The investigation revealed that the hazardous wastewater came from a private enterprise that had been polluting the community since 2016.

A court in Mykolaiv region has heard a case of contamination of a 640-square-meter land plot in Voznesensk, which was linked to the activities of the private enterprise Sboyas. Soil contamination with chlorides and other harmful substances posed a danger to the environment and was detected along the company's fence on the communal land of the Buz village council.
