The Mykolaiv City Council has decided to reorganize the city's medical network on a large scale. It provides for the merger of hospitals into a single structure and the transfer of one of the maternity hospitals to the ownership of the region.

This became known during a session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

As explained by the head of the humanitarian commission, Anna Nord, this decision has been discussed for about a year and is related to the transition to a new model of healthcare financing.

According to her, the city must integrate into a capable hospital network in order not to lose funding from the NHS and preserve medical services.

Merger of hospitals

According to the decision:

will be merged with Hospital #4.

This will create a cluster hospital that will be able to operate as a single legal entity, but with an internal division of directions.

This will allow

The reorganization will be carried out in two stages:

  1. Extended restructuring - to avoid additional burden on the budget and not to pay compensation during the changes
  2. Approval of the new charter - with the model of the merged institution

According to the MP, such a model will allow hospitals to work more efficiently, even while maintaining internal competition.

Maternity hospital to be transferred to the region

A separate decision was made to transfer maternity hospital No. 3 to the regional hospital.

Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych explained that the facility is unprofitable due to the low number of births and needs constant additional funding.

After the transfer:

At the same time, significant funds have already been invested in the facility - tens of millions of hryvnias in repairs and equipment.

There will be no layoffs

The city authorities emphasize:

According to Sienkevych, the main goal is to adapt medical institutions to the requirements of the reform, ensure stable funding and retain staff.

As Intent wrote earlier, Mykolaiv announced the renovation of Children's Hospital No. 2 with facade insulation and window replacement, but no funds have been allocated for the work so far. There is no funding, so the timing of the reconstruction has not yet been determined.
