Mykolaiv Region Sees 18 Fires in 24 Hours, 1 Fatality Reported

Over the past day, 18 deadwood fires occurred in Mykolaiv region, destroying more than 3 hectares of land and an outbuilding. A total of 23 vehicles and 80 rescuers were involved in firefighting.

<span>This </span>was reported by<span> the press service of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region.</span>

Yesterday, there were 12 fires of reeds and dry grass on a total area of more than 3 hectares. The fires were recorded in Pervomaiska, Kamianomostivska, Vradiyivska TG of Pervomaisk district, Domanivska TG of Voznesensk district, Olshanska, Novoodeska TG of Mykolaiv district and Kazankivska TG of Bashtanka district.

In Novovasylivka village of Snihurivka TG, the fire destroyed an outbuilding. The fire also affected the residential sector: in the Central District of Mykolaiv, while extinguishing a fire in a nine-story apartment, rescuers found the body of the deceased owner, born in 1937. The fire on a bed and household items over an area of 4 square meters was quickly extinguished.

In the village of Velykoserbulivka, Yelanetska TG, a bus caught fire while driving. The fire on the area of 10 square meters was quickly extinguished, no one was injured. The preliminary cause of the fire was a short circuit in the engine wiring.

A total of 23 vehicles and 80 rescuers were engaged in firefighting.

Earlier, in Mykolaiv Oblast, a woman and her 14-year-old son were burned while trying to melt a stove with a gas aerosol can that suddenly burst into flames. The fire was avoided, but the victims were hospitalized.

In Voznesensk, on the evening of January 18, a bathhouse on the territory of a private household caught fire. A man born in 1991 was poisoned by combustion products; his wife took him out of the smoky room and called rescuers and medics. The victim was hospitalized.

In the village of Ivanivka in the Bratsk community, a teenager saved his younger brother from a fire. Things caught fire in the room where the six-year-old boy was staying due to a short circuit in the power supply. Hearing the screams, the older brother ran out to help and took the child to the yard. The boy was hospitalized at a children's hospital with second-degree burns. Local residents managed to put out the fire before the rescuers arrived<span>.</span>
