In Mykolaiv region, the city decided to build a shelter in the Kazankiv hospital. It is planned to raise almost thirty million hryvnias for this purpose.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the Dream ecosystem.

According to the project description, new building codes for civil protection came into force on November 1, 2023, requiring the inclusion of shelters in all projects for the reconstruction of residential and public buildings, including schools, hospitals, and kindergartens. In this regard, there was a need to build a shelter for the staff and patients of the Kazankiv Multidisciplinary Hospital.

In addition to providing protection during Russian missile strikes, the investment in the shelter will allow it to be used for educational activities for the elderly, art therapy for people with disabilities, social services and volunteer activities during non-alarm periods.

The shelter was envisaged during the construction of the hospital, but over time its resources were worn out, so it became necessary to carry out major repairs. The shelter is designed to accommodate up to 220 people continuously for two days, of which 78 beds are for medical staff and 142 for patients or community members.

The project budget is UAH 29 million 800 thousand. Of this amount, 29 million will be spent on construction and 750 thousand on design work.

This project is aimed at improving the conditions for the provision of medical services, ensuring stable and high-quality access to medicine, achieving cost-effective energy efficiency, optimal use of space, and increasing the efficiency of the hospital.

The basis for the construction of the shelter is the decision of the Kazankivska Village Council of March 1, 2024, No. 949/27 "On Amendments to the Budget of the Kazankivska Village Territorial Community for 2024". UAH 750 thousand was allocated from the local budget for the project.

The project is currently in the implementation status, but needs funding.

Also in the Mykolaiv region, they decided to reconstruct a kindergarten, which will be restored in 2021. More than 56 million hryvnias were allocated from the budget, which is 10 million more than last year. It is planned to reconstruct the Kobleve pre-school institution "Sonechko". In 2021, the reconstruction of the kindergarten was part of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy 's Big Construction program.

In addition, it is planned to restore Kobzartsivska primary school, which was damaged by enemy shelling. It is also planned to repair the shelter. It was decided to raise more than UAH 25 million for the reconstruction. The overhaul of the school building and the radiation shelter will allow restoring access to full-time education for children and provide shelter for the entire population of Kobzartsi village.

Meanwhile, local authorities in Mykolaiv tried twice unsuccessfully to find a contractor to repair the canteen in one of the city's gymnasiums. On the third attempt, they succeeded. An agreement is now expected to be signed.
