Mykolaiv Region Faces Record Air Raid Alarms: Safety Tips Explained

In January 2025, the longest air raid alarm in the Mykolaiv region lasted almost ten hours. The average duration of alarms is around two hours.

This is evidenced by the Air-alarms statistics.

The longest alarm in the new year was sounded in Mykolaiv region on January 27, starting at 20:29 and lasting 9 hours, 51 minutes, and 53 seconds. In total, there were 77 airborne alarms in January.

The most frequent alarms were heard on Fridays, at six and ten o'clock in the evening. The media reported explosions nine times. The number of threats of artillery fire reached three times. Explosions were most often heard in Mykolaiv, Snihurivka and Ochakiv.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the alarm has sounded 3,040 times, and the number of threats of artillery shelling has been 1,411. Explosions were heard in Mykolaiv, Ochakiv, Voznesensk, Snihurivka, Novyi Buh and Pivdenoukrainsk.

During the summer, air alerts were declared 328 times in the Mykolaiv region. As of September 1, 2024, the number of alerts in Mykolaiv region reached 2643. Thus, 126 alarms were sounded in June, 115 in July, and 87 in August. According to the portal, the longest air raid alarm lasted 9 hours and 53 minutes. After Mykolaiv and the region, the largest number of explosions was recorded in Ochakiv, Voznesensk and Snihurivka.

Currently, 56 automated alarm notification systems are planned to be set up in the region. Two of them are already in operation, and local governments have prepared terms of reference for more than thirty systems. Currently, there are 307 sirens, 192 loudspeakers and 4 radio stations in the region to alert the public to threats.
