In Mykolaiv, on the third attempt and at a reduced price, they are trying to dismantle the Russian inscription and the Soviet star on the memorial complex in honor of the 68th paratroopers from Olshan. The first and second tenders to find a contractor failed.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.

The tender was first announced in September. The customer was Mykolaiv Parks. The cost of the work was UAH 672 thousand. On September 20, it was announced that the tender was canceled. The reason given was the lack of proposals.

They tried to hold a second tender in October last year, but even then there were no takers for the Ukrainianization of the memorial.

On February 14, a new tender for the renovation of the memorial complex appeared on the ProZorro website. The same utility company remained the client. The tender stated that the Russian inscription and the Soviet star should be dismantled. According to the updated version, the inscription should read as follows: "Eternal glory to the heroes who died for the Motherland". The star should be replaced with a wreath with the dates of World War II (1939-1945). The cost of the work has been reduced to 620 thousand hryvnias.

Bids will be accepted until February 24. The auction in the format of open bidding with special features will take place on February 25. The winning bidder will have until the end of the year to complete the work.

The memorial complex in honor of 68 Olshan paratroopers in Mykolaiv was created to honor the heroes of World War II. It is dedicated to the feat of the unit under the command of Konstantin Olshansky, which in March 1944 carried out a heroic airborne operation during the liberation of the city of Mykolaiv from Nazi invaders. The detachment consisted of 68 soldiers, most of whom were killed, but they managed to hold strategically important positions that contributed to the successful offensive of Soviet troops.

The memorial is located at the site of the landing and includes a sculptural composition depicting the soldiers at the time of the attack, as well as symbolic bas-reliefs and plates with the names of the heroes. The complex is an important part of the city's military history and a venue for celebrations and commemorations.

Meanwhile, Mykolaiv Funeral Service has selected a contractor for the second attempt to manufacture and install 160 tombstones for the defenders who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
