The Mykolaiv City Council has recommended revising budget limits to cover the shortfall in salaries for employees in the education and culture sectors.
This became known at a meeting of the budget committee of the Mykolaiv City Council.
Yuriy Lyubarov reported a critical shortfall in funding for the cultural sector. Instead of the required 184 million hryvnias, the city received only 137 million, making the real shortfall 46 million hryvnias. In February alone, more than 5 million hryvnias are missing to pay cultural workers.
A similar situation is observed in the Department of Education, where the budget limits did not take into account the government's decision to raise salaries. The members of the specialized commission decided to reallocate funds from the second half of the year to ensure payments in February and March. Fedir Panchenko recommended that the mayor and the Department of Finance review the monthly payroll to ensure the minimum wage.
Earlier it became known that cultural workers can receive only 40% of their salaries. The city's art schools have already begun to reduce teaching hours and allowances for teachers, forcing the heads of educational institutions to seek help from international funds.
Also, Mykolaiv planned to provide allowances to kindergarten teachers, but due to lack of funds, they were replaced by a salary increase. This decision affects more than 1,800 employees of preschool and general education institutions. The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights, Children, Family, Legality, and Transparency. of the Mykolaiv City Council.
During the meeting, the issue of paying municipal allowances to pedagogical staff of preschool educational institutions was considered.
