On the night of October 24, the occupiers attacked Odesa region with TU-22 strategic aircraft.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to the military, the enemy fired two X-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 aircraft over the Black Sea.

The Pivden' military command clarified that the Russian occupation forces fired a cruise missile, probably an X-22 or X-32, in the direction of Zmeinyi Island from the airspace over the Black Sea. At night, air defense forces shot down 9 enemy attack drones, six of which were destroyed over Odesa region.

In the evening of October 23, Odesa region was attacked with an X-31P guided missile.

Also, as of 8:30 a.m., 40 enemy UAVs were confirmed to have been shot down in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, and Chernihiv regions.

In addition, 7 Russian drones were lost in the area,

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces.

The air alert in our region was announced at 01:01. At 01:01 and 01:12, the Air Force reported launches in the direction of the Odesa region coast. The cruise missiles did not reach their target and disappeared off the coast.

The X-22 is a Soviet supersonic air-to-ground cruise missile that was developed in the 1960s and remains in service with Russia.

Purpose: The X-22 is designed to destroy large ships, aircraft carrier groups, and ground targets such as radar stations and important industrial facilities.

The X-22 has been actively used by the Russian occupiers during air strikes by Russian forces on Ukrainian cities since 2022. Due to its low accuracy and high power, it can cause significant destruction and civilian casualties, which has repeatedly occurred during strikes on civilian objects.

Problems: Low accuracy and outdated guidance technology make the X-22 unsafe for use in densely populated areas.
