Kherson resident sentenced to 6 years in prison for helping occupiers

A resident of the Kherson region was sentenced to 6 years in prison for participating in the organization and conduct of a pseudo-referendum

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The post states that a resident of the village of Chornobaivka was found guilty of collaboration (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for supporting the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office. She was sentenced to 6 years in prison with confiscation of property. She was also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to the organization and conduct of elections and referendums for a period of 15 years.

It was proved that in September 2022, the convicted person participated in the work of the so-called "election commission" created by the occupation authorities to hold a pseudo-referendum on secession from Ukraine and the accession of the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region to Russia. As a member of the illegally created commission, she visited the homes of residents of Chornobaivka village, urging them to vote in favor of the aggressor country and issued "ballots". The woman will remain in custody until the verdict enters into force.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Kherson region.

Earlier it was reported that two women would be tried for participating in the organization and holding of a pseudo-referendum in Muzykivka. the investigation established that in September 2022, the accused joined the so-called "precinct election commission" that was preparing a "referendum" on joining the Russian Federation in the village of Muzykivka. The women, accompanied by armed Russian soldiers, went to the homes of local residents, urging them to participate in the "vote."

Also in Kherson region, a law enforcement officer will be brought to court for his participation in organizing and conducting the pseudo-referendum.
