Kherson Resident Detained for Collaborating with Occupiers During War

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation jointly with the SBU detained a resident of Kherson region who worked for the occupation authorities during the temporary occupation of the region. He was served a notice of suspicion of collaboration.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

<span><span><span>As the investigators found out, in 2022, the man voluntarily began to cooperate with the Russian invaders and got a job in an illegal formation - "Dariivka Correctional Colony No. 10". He held the position of "junior inspector of the security department" and received a salary in rubles.</span></span></span>

<span><span><span>After the liberation of the Kherson region, the man tried to hide his cooperation with the occupiers, moved to another region and even joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, he was exposed and detained in Kharkiv region.</span></span></span>

<span><span><span>He was served a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (voluntary occupation of a position in an illegal occupation authority). The sanction of the article provides for up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.</span></span></span>

<span><span><span>The court has already imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention.</span></span></span>

<span><span><span>The Kherson Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region is providing procedural guidance in the case.</span></span></span>

Earlier, in Kherson, SBI officers together with the SBU foiled the defector's plans. During the occupation of the city, the man worked in a seized colony, and after the liberation of the region tried to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was detained.

Recently, it became known that a former employee of the Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 went over to the enemy and carried out criminal orders and instructions of the occupiers for money.

Earlier, the court found a former employee of the penal colony guilty of high treason committed under martial law. The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of his special rank of Major of Internal Service. While on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, the man voluntarily agreed to work for the enemy in an illegally created law enforcement agency, which became part of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and acted under the laws of the aggressor country.
