Kherson resident calls on radio to change Ukraine's borders

A Kherson resident who called for changing the borders of Ukraine on the radio will be tried.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The statement reads that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was sent to court against a resident of the regional center on the fact of public calls for changing the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Thus, the investigation established that the accused, declared as a local entrepreneur, in September 2022 gave an interview to journalists of a seized local radio station, which the occupiers used as a platform for spreading pro-Russian narratives. During the conversation, the man supported the Russian occupation of the region and emphasized the need to participate in a pseudo-referendum on the accession of Kherson region to the aggressor country.

The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Kherson Regional Police.

Earlier it was reported that a man will be tried in Kherson region for spreading Russian propaganda. The investigation established that at the end of March 2022, the accused joined information operations against Ukraine. He created his own Telegram channel to spread Russian propaganda, participated in mass events in support of the actions of the aggressor country and the occupation administration, and gave interviews to Russian media.

It was also reported that a local resident, who headed the"Department of Culture" of the occupation administration of Kherson, was served with a notice of suspicion. According to the investigation, in July 2022, the 65-year-old suspect agreed to the proposal of the occupation authorities and took the position of the so-called "head of the Department of Culture" in the "Kherson Territorial Community Administration". In his pseudo-position, he performed administrative functions and contributed to creating a positive image of the occupation authorities.
