This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The prosecutor's office sent to court an indictment against the former deputy commander of a battalion of the Patrol Police Department in Kherson region and an individual entrepreneur. They are accused of extortion and bribery as part of an organized group (Part 3 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in 2021, this group operated in Kherson region. It included several patrol police officials and an entrepreneur. The criminals organized a scheme where they systematically received bribes from carriers to avoid inspections at weighing stations. This allowed trucks exceeding the weight limits to pass through the checkpoints unimpeded.
In addition to the two defendants, the case of another participant, the former deputy head of the patrol police in Kherson region, has already been submitted to court.
Earlier, Intent wrote that the court found the head of the occupation police in Henichesk, Kherson region, guilty. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for collaboration.
Also, under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a law enforcement officer from Kherson was served a notice of suspicion of violating traffic safety rules, which caused the victim's death. The suspected policeman failed to comply with the request to give way and allowed the cars to collide. The injured driver sustained numerous injuries, including comminuted fractures, and died as a result of significant blood loss and traumatic shock.
The Odesa Oblast Patrol Police Department also denied the information about a traffic accident involving Artem Khylynichenko, deputy head of the regional patrol police department, who was allegedly driving while intoxicated.
