An investment idea for the Kherson region - planting olive and peach plantations - was proposed by Sotiris A. Buzeas, founder and CEO of TANAIS.
According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, climate change in the south of Ukraine has recently dictated new rules for farmers. Traditional crops that used to be profitable are losing their business attractiveness due to lower yields in the new climate realities.
"Therefore, growing olives and producing olive oil is a business that can be profitable for our farmers, create additional jobs and help develop the region's economy," the official added.
In addition, the head of the OVA and the CEO of TANAIS discussed cooperation between the Kherson region and the regions of Greece.
"This is an international project that promotes cooperation and investment in the fields of aerospace, technology, advanced manufacturing, and the academic sector in the EU, the Middle East, North Africa, and Canada," Prokudin said.
According to him, Mr. Sotiris shared successful examples of the implementation of his projects to develop maritime infrastructure and shipbuilding. This experience, according to the guest, can be shared in the Kherson region.
Last year, the Honorary Consul of the Hellenic Republic in Kherson, Pantelis Bumbouras, and the Greek Special Representative for Ukraine, Spyridon Lambridis, visited Kherson. They discussed defense assistance to the Defenders and support for regional programs in various fields, including educational, medical, social and cultural.
Kherson and Lincolnshire (UK) also signed an agreement on cooperation in the agricultural sector. According to Prokudin, this cooperation opens the door to new knowledge, experience, and support for local farmers.
"We are talking not only about technology, but also about real assistance in the development of the agricultural sector, which is key for Kherson region," Prokudin added.
