The governments of Ukraine and Italy have signed an agreement that provides for an interest-free loan of 30 million euros from the Italian government for the construction of a new medical building at the Odesa Regional Children's Hospital.

According to the press service of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, the document was signed by Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, and Carlo Formosa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Ukraine, on behalf of Ukraine.

It is planned that upon completion, 260 children in the region will be able to receive inpatient care at the same time. The new building will also include eight operating rooms and will have a completely renovated European-style infrastructure.

"This is a great victory for Odesa region and the result of many months of teamwork between the governments and embassies of our countries, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Odesa Regional State Administration, hospital management, and designers," the regional administration said.

However, it should be noted that in early November, Ivan Liptuga , then Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture and Marketing of the Odesa City Council, said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had not yet ratified a grant agreement with Italy to restore Odesa's cultural heritage, which provides for the allocation of 32 million euros to restore the city's architectural monuments affected by the Russian Federation's aggression. The project involves the restoration and preservation of monuments in the historic center of Odesa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The objects to be restored include: Odesa National Art Museum, the Zontag House, the Palace of Marriages, and the Philharmonic Building.
