A foreign carrier was fined in Mykolaiv for illegal passenger transportation between Ukrainian cities.

This was reported by the press service of Ukrtransbezpeka.

It said that during a raid at a bus station in Mykolaiv, inspectors stopped a foreign bus that was running a domestic route without a permit.

The Setra vehicle was transporting passengers from Mykolaiv to Kremenchuk, which was confirmed by the ticket provided. Such activity is considered cabotage transportation, which is prohibited for foreign companies without a special permit.

From now on, the driver will have to pay a fine of UAH 17,000 for violating the law, according to the Law of Ukraine "On Road Transport."

Ukrtransbezpeka reminds of the mandatory compliance with transportation standards and urges not to violate the rules.

Cabotage transportation is the transportation of goods or passengers between two locations within the same country by a foreign carrier. Such activities are regulated by national and international law and usually require special permits.

For example, if a Polish transportation company brings goods to Ukraine and then makes a flight between Ukrainian cities, this is considered cabotage.

In Ukraine, violations of cabotage transportation rules are subject to fines. The restrictions were introduced to protect the domestic market from unfair competition and to support national carriers. Many countries have similar regulations in place - in particular, the EU allows only a limited number of short-sea voyages after international transportation.

Earlier, violations of the permissible size and weight standards were detected in Mykolaiv region. The violators will pay UAH 170 thousand in fines to the budget.
