(Victoria Yaslyk and Oksana Shabunok)

The role of media for art and art for media, why journalists should cover exhibitions of artists, and how media becomes part of art.

On April 16, Odesa residents discussed these issues as part of the project "Where Does the Current Lead?" in Odesa.

Oksana Shabunok said that her journey in media began after the full-scale invasion.

"My journey began with the arrival. I experienced the work of the media then. Many journalists work on the spot after arriving and how intense the atmosphere is, what they carry through and still find the strength to support me and other victims. For me, the media is not just a resource for advertising - it is a story that carries meanings, which is born from an idea to its communication to society. The media are the people who are recording the history of Ukraine in the moment. It is the voice of Ukraine that is heard around the world," she said.

"Where Does the Current Lead?" is a visual and philosophical art project about how the legacy of the past and previously formed social scenarios continue to influence our lives today. It consists of two parts, united by the idea of transformation of meanings. Due to the change of context, familiar objects and images lose their established functions and acquire new meanings. The exhibition "Where Does the Current Lead?" opened on March 27 and will last until April 27. The project consists of two parts, united by the idea of transformation of meanings. Due to the change of context, familiar objects and images lose their established functions and acquire new meanings.
