In Odesa region, men were smuggled abroad under the guise of driver's assistants

Law enforcement officers detained three men from Bolhrad district of Odesa region and an employee of Ukrzaliznytsia from Mykolaiv region on suspicion of organizing a scheme to smuggle men of military age to the Republic of Moldova.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region, the detainees' services cost 9 thousand dollars.

Part of it had to be paid immediately, and the rest - after crossing the border. The clients were transported by rail from Odesa to one of the settlements close to the border in Odesa region. As a cover, they used forged documents on business trips of Ukrzaliznytsia's assistant drivers. The men were then transferred to cars, driven to the border and shown a walking route to the neighboring country.

Cars, money, forged documents, cell phones and other items used in the illegal activity were seized from the detainees as material evidence. For the duration of the investigation, the court imposed on the detainees a bail and custody with the right to be released on bail.

The investigation has been completed and the indictments have been sent to court. The state prosecution in court will be supported by the Chornomorsk and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Prosecutor's Offices.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained officials of medical institutions in Odesa who are suspected of facilitating the evasion of men of military age from mobilization for money. SBU officers detained the doctors when they were handed money and informed of suspicion of extortion and receiving illegal benefits committed by a group of people and abuse of influence. According to the Odesa Region Prosecutor 's Office, the suspects were chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with bail of almost UAH 3 million each.
