On August 18, a poacher was detained during a fishery protection raid near the village of Petrovo-Solonykh in Mykolaiv region.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Fisheries Patrol.
He managed to catch 168 fish using prohibited fishing gear, namely two nets, causing damage to Ukraine's fisheries worth <b>UAH 335,818</b>. The poacher's illegal catch included: 76 silver carp, 47 roach, 21 flathead, 12 silver crucian carp, 10 bluegill and 2 perch. The fish and prohibited fishing gear were seized from him.
An administrative report was drawn up against the violator, and the issue of opening criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 249 "Illegal fishing" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being decided. An investigative team was called to the scene to inspect the scene and register it in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
Earlier, poachers with a million-dollar catch were detained in Mykolaiv region. The incident occurred on March 12 in the evening while patrolling the coastline of the Ingul River within the city. Inspectors of the water police unit of the Mykolaiv district administration together with a state inspector of the fisheries patrol found two men who were illegally fishing for freshwater fish using nets and a rubber boat.
Border guards, together with representatives of the water police and the environmental inspectorate, found a man in Odesa region who was poaching fish in a boat in a fishing suit under the cover of night. According to preliminary estimates, the total amount of damage caused to the state is almost UAH 8.5 million. And in Kherson region, water police prevented damage to the state in the amount of more than 550 thousand hryvnias. As it turned out, more than 300 crayfish and fish of various species were caught in the nets.
