He mocked and raped her: "DPR fighter" to be tried for torturing Kherson resident

During the occupation of the right bank of the Kherson region, a "DNR serviceman" and his accomplice abused and raped a resident of the Kalynivka village territorial community under the threat of execution and cutting off her limbs. Police identified him and notified him of suspicion in absentia.

According to the police of Kherson region, in August 2022, in the evening, the attacker and another Russian military man entered the house of a resident of Beryslav district and checked it. At the same time, both pointed weapons at the woman and threatened her. After that, the invaders interrogated the local resident, threatening her with shooting, beating and cutting off parts of her limbs. They tried to extract information from her about ATO/JFO participants living in the village, as well as persons to whom they believed the victim could have passed the coordinates of the location of military equipment and personnel of the Russian Armed Forces.

Having not received this information from the woman, the main perpetrator fired two shots from an assault rifle in her direction and ordered her to undress. After several hours of abuse and drinking alcohol, the perpetrator raped the victim and left with his accomplice.

According to Ihor Demianiuk, Head of the Department for Investigation of Crimes Committed in the Context of Armed Conflict, Kherson Police Investigation Department, with the operational support of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional police headquarters, law enforcement officers identified the main suspect. He is a 48-year-old resident of Debaltseve, Donetsk region, previously convicted of serious crimes, who at the time "served" in the "109th Rifle Regiment, 1st Army Corps of the Donetsk People's Republic" with the rank of "private".

Investigators charged the "DPR fighter" with inhuman treatment of a civilian, causing physical pain and mental suffering, and sexual violence. Therefore, he was served in absentia a notice of suspicion of violations of the laws and customs of war committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. Currently, the necessary evidence base against the defendant has been collected in full, the indictment has been approved by the regional prosecutor's office and sent to court. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years.
